Biography David Barbere
David Barbere was born in Santa Barbara, California on October 19, 1933. He studied under Leonard Borman (1894-1995), attended art classes at Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa, CA, studied with fellow wildlife artists Carl Brenders and Richard Sloan. He also studied with the Bismarck area artists Rosemary Landsberger, Vern Skaug, Frank Webb and Mike Capser.
David Barbere lived in Santa Barbara and Newport Beach, California. Traveling and painting over the southwestern United States, Barbere eventually settled in Bismarck, North Dakota in 1965.
He became known for his realistic depictions of wildlife such as buffalo and cougars, landscapes of the Dakota and southwestern badlands, still-lifes and commissioned works of hunting dog
