David E. Bernard
David E. Bernard (associate professor of art) has been at the University of Wichita, Wichita, Kansas, since 1949. He teaches graphic art and history of art. The graphic program at the University of Wichita, including graduate work, was developed under his direction.
Born August 8, 1913 at Sandwich, Illinois. He received his B.F.A. from the University of Illinois, and his M.F.A. from the State University of Iowa. At Iowa Bernard studied with Mauricio Lasansky (graphic art), Humbert Albrizio (sculpture) and Lester D. Longman, (history of art).
Before coming to Wichita, Bernard served in the U.S.A.A.F. during World War II, and taught art at Maryville College, Maryville, Tennessee.
