David Seifert was born on 31 December 1896 in Wolanka, Poland. He died in France in 1980.
He entered a school of Art in Lwov, then in Weimar, in 1912 where he met Joachim Weingart and Paul Klee.
The industrialist and patron Carol Katz was seduced by his talent and decided to support him during his years of training.
In 1924, David moved to Paris; He was chosen with 33 other artists - including Marie Vassilieff, Pierre Dubreuil - to decorate a pilaster (for others a pillar) of the famous brasserie La Coupole in Paris. The inauguration took place on 20 December 1927 and was surrounded by friends Leon Weissberg, Othon Friez, and Moise Kisling.
