Biography Diane Burns
From Half Moon Bay, California, Diane Burns depicts wildlife subjects in batik, a medium she has pursued since her high school years. With batik, she loves the results of beauty and texture and the constant surprises. From the time she does a few strokes with pencil on the silk, she begins to feel the animal's spirit. "I begin with the eyes. They tell me how to proceed" (Wildlife Art, 4/2000).
Her subjects range from fish to cats, large and small, to whimsical long-necked, long-legged birds.
Burns is a member of the Society of Animal Artists from 1997 and has exhibited at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum's "Birds in Art" Show and at the "Masters of Wildlife Fine Art Exhibition" in Ontario, Canada.
