Pitseolak Ashoona CM, RCA (1904 - 1983)
Inuit graphic artist and printmaker, Pitseolak Ashoona (aka: Pitseolak,
aka: E71100*) was born on Nottingham Island (south-west of Baffin
Island), Northwest Territories, Canada and died in Cape Dorset (Baffin
Island), Nunavut. She is discussed in virtually every comprehensive
Inuit Art* history book, her drawings and prints have been included in
dozens of major exhibitions, and her works are in numerous museum
collections including the National Gallery of Canada, the Smithsonian
National Museum of the American Indian and the British Museum.
