Biography Donal Hord
Donal Hord was one of Californias premier sculptors during the first part of the twentieth century. Hord was born in Prentice, Wisconsin, in 1902. He grew up in Seattle, Washington before moving to San Diego, California in 1916.
While in Seattle, Hord studied sculpture with Anna Valentien. His academic years were spent at various schools including Santa Barbara School of Arts, between 1926 and 1928, and the University of Mexico, for the year between 1928 and 1929. In 1929 Hord exhibited in San Francisco at the California Palace of the Legion of Honor.
