According to different sources, he was born in 1899 or later and died in 1950. He lived in New York City, New Orleans, Louisiana as well as Haiti, among other places, and associated with Diego Rivera in Mexico. He also studied with Leopoldo Mendez in Mexico as well as Lechay and K. Heldner in the U.S. Brown was a member of the American Art Congress and exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago in 1932, 1942, 1944, 1949; the Worlds Fair in New York, 1939; the Whitney Museum of American Art from 1947 to 1949; the Denver Museum; the Museum of Modern Art, New York; the Salons of America; the Society of Independent Artists.
Brown taught at Dillard University in New Orleans.
