Biography Edith Morrell
Edith Whitcomb Morrell studied art at the Art Students League in New York City. Her primary teacher was R. Miller. Her technique is definitely that of an accomplished impressionist. Close observation of the artists' pictures reveal her command of excellent impressionist technique and use of color. Her primary subjects were a variety of marines, portraits, landscapes, and children. She was adept in the use of oil colors and pastels.
Morrell was also a member of the National Association of Woman Painters and Sculptors. After the turn of the century, she exhibited with the active members of the group at the National Arts Club New York, Argent Gallery, New York City.
