Born in Centerville, Michigan, Edward Dressler and his wife, Bertha
Menzler Dressler, were invited in 1903 by Winfield Scott, for
whom Scottsdale is named, to sketch Northern Arizona Indian
His wife Bertha Menzler Dressler, later Bertha Menzler Peyton, became
much better known than Edward. Little of his work has been
found. It is known that he studied at the Mark Hopkins Art
Institute in San Francisco.
