Biography Eishosai Choki
Choki, like his senior contemporary Eishi, is one of several artists to specialize in bijin ga in a style that took the oeuvre of Utamaro as its starting point. Choki shared Utamaro's publisher, the inventive Tsutaya Juzaburo. Choki was able to create his own distinct variation of the Utamaro style; his beauties have a certain fresh innocence and propriety.
