Biography Elbert Eastmond
A teacher, painter and specialist in printmaking, Elbert Eastmond was
born in American Fork, Utah in 1876. In 1901, he enrolled in the
Art Institute of Chicago, and by the next year was in New York City
studying at Pratt Institute. From 1903 to 1904, he was at
Stanford University in California as a student of John Lemos. In
1905, he went to Europe and stayed until the beginning of World War
In 1912, he taught at the California College of Arts and Crafts
and then transferred to the Art Department at Berkeley. During
this period, he also traveled back to Utah, and then in the early
1920s, studied at the University of Washington.
His art reputation grew, especially in Utah
