Eleanor Brown Bates was born in Lakeview, MI on July 1, 1912. Bates moved to Mill Valley, CA in 1928 After graduating from Mill Valley High School, she studied on a scholarship at the California College of Arts & Crafts (Oakland) and continued in Ohio at Oberlin College. In 1945 she married Alexander Streloff and settled in San Mateo, CA.
She died in Sausalito, CA on April 29, 2002.
Her oils include portraits and landscapes; her sculptures are mostly small ones in stone and bronze. Member: Peninsula AA; Marin Society of Artists.
