Biography Eleanor Gilpatrick
Eleanor Gilpatrick is a second-career, realist painter working primarily with landscapes and the figure. Although she won prizes for painting and draftsmanship (study with Abby Ostrowsky at the Educational Alliance), when she was young, she chose to study the social sciences in college and graduate school, and eventually became an expert in health care policy and human resources issues. While a professor at Hunter College, CUNY, she authored four books, directed a masters program in health services administration, and pioneered courses in critical thinking and writing.
Gilpatrick picked up the thread of drawing and painting in 1998 in a plein-air workshop in Italy and returned to serious study with renewed intensity. She studied at
