Biography Eleanor Sinton
Post War California artist, Eleanor Sinton, known as "Nell", studied at the California School of Fine Arts, 1920-1925, 1926-1928, 1937-1938; with Lucien Labaudt and Maurice Sterne, 1937-1938. In 1959, Sinton was acknowledged as one of the Ten Most Distinguished Bay Area Women. An active member of the Bay Area art community, she served on the San Francisco City and County Art Commission, 1959-1963 and the Board of Trustees of the San Francisco Art Institute from 1966-1972.
Sinton taught at the Institute for Creative and Artistic Development in Oakland, CA from 1974-1985. She was a visiting artist at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge in 1976, and an artist-in-residence at the National Organization of Women Conference, University
