Elfreda Nagel Hatch Brown was born in Iowa on May 4, 1880. During the 1920s and early 1930s Mrs. Brown was a resident of San Francisco and active in the local art scene. She then moved to Highland, CA where she taught in the public schools for 33 years. She retired to San Diego in the 1960s and lived with artist Dorothy Baron until her death on July 15, 1973.
