Elinor Proby Adams (1885-1945)
Born at Sudbury, Suffolk in 1885, daughter of Henry George Adams, a chemist, and his wife Clara Elizabeth née Bradley who married at Lambeth in 1884. In 1891 her father had a chemist's shop at High Street, Market Harborough, Leicestershire and in 1901 living at 31 St. Michael's Road, Bedford with her parents, 43 year old Henry and 43 year old Clara.
She studied at the Slade School of Art and the honours for figure-painting in the session 1907-8, won equal first prizes of £4 10s. for painting heads, by D. G. MacLaren and Elinor P. Adams.
