Born September 25, 1873 in Brownville, Nebraska to Sarah Elizabeth (Alexander) Tuttle and F. Smith Perkins Tuttle, Elizabeth Tuttle Holsman lived her childhood and early adult years in Nebraska and then moved to Chicago, where she had a distinguished career as a sculptor, painter and lecturer. Combining her professionalism as an artist with domestic responsibilities, she was married to one of Chicago's most famous architects, and raised four children including a daughter and three boys.
