Born in Kentucky in 1830. Light was active in NYC, Philadelphia and South America before moving to California. She was a resident of Sacramento in the late 1850s and early 1860s. While there, the local wildflowers were her preferred subject matter. Leading a peripatetic existence, she was also a writer and botanist. She died in San Macial, Mexico on Jan. 24, 1864. Exh: Calif. State Fair, 1859-61.
