Biography   Emily Hoffmeier

Emily L. Hoffmeier (1888 - 1952) graduated from Mount Holyoke College in 1909, and remained there to teach for a few years after. She studied painting with Henry Snell in Boothbay Harbor, Frank Swift Chase on Nantucket, and Hugh Breckenridge in Gloucester.

From 1929 on, Hoffmeier kept a studio on Nantucket, and was a founding member of the Nantucket Art Association (1945). Her works are in the collection of the Nantucket Historical Association.
