Biography Enrique Atalaya
A native from the Spanish town Murcia, Enrique Atalaya became a student
of Germán Hernández (1823-1894) and was primarily focused on genre
painting. A large part of his oeuvre includes works in oil and
watercolor, whereas he was especially interested in Iberian themes.
Besides, he also painted interiors, depictions of animals as well as
miniatures. In 1876 he exhibited his works in Madrid, which was followed
by further presentations in Paris, Berlin and Dresden. His works on the
first chapter of Don Quixote were exhibited at the World Exhibition in
Paris in 1889.
