Biography Ernst Stocker Coghuf
completing an apprenticeship as a locksmith, Ernst Stocker followed his
younger brother Hans, who was nine years older and had already worked as
an artist, to Paris in 1925, where he learned about painting and
sculpture. In order not to be confused with his brother, he took in 1927 to the stage name Coghuf. After
his return to Basel in 1928, he was admitted to the artist group
"Red-Blue II", but remained according to its nature, even on an artistic
level rather a loner. He was significantly influenced by
the representatives of the first École de Paris, namely by Amedeo
Modigliani, Maurice Utrillo and Chaïm Soutine.Displaying 750 of 988 characters.
