Born in California of Danish parents on Sept. 18, 1889. After studying at the Mark Hopkins Institute and Stanford University, Hoisholt headed the art department at San Jose College for 30 years. By the 1930s she had settled in Saratoga, CA and died there on June 11, 1979. Her favorite sketching grounds were San Jose, Los Gatos, and the Mother Lode area near Columbia.
