Eugene Leslie Ahern was active/lived in Ohio, California, Illinois.  Eugene Leslie Ahern is known for newspaper syndicate cartoonist.

Biography   Eugene Leslie Ahern


Gene Ahern studied at the Chicago Art Institute. He started his career of cartooning in the early 1910's, creating strips like "Taking Her to the Ball Game", "Fathead Fritz", "Dream Dope", and "Squirrel Food". In this last strip he introduced his long-lasting characters "The Nut Brothers", Ches and Wal.

In 1923 Ahern's innovative daily strip "Our Boarding House" was published and became a great success. By 1936, he was a nationally famous cartoonist and did a variant on "Our Boarding House" called "Room and Board".

Ahern died in 1960, after which his inimitable comics are not continued.
