Born in Germany, his father was Court Painter to the Kaiser. Sintzenich spent the major part of his career as a painter, first coming to America in 1831 to paint views of Niagara Falls, Upper Canada, and New York State. In 1838, Abelard Reynolds, owner of the Reynolds Arcade, engaged him to paint large murals of Niagara Falls on the interior walls of the Arcade entrance.
Sintzenich lived in Rochester on and off until his death here during the
cholera epidemic of 1852. He painted and exhibited several grand Panorama paintings, worked as a teacher of Art in the Rochester Athenaeum, and had a diverse busi
