Biography   Eva Perine


Born in Corunna, MI on Sept. 13, 1846, the daughter of Maria Ferry and Edward Green. Eva's father came to California in 1849 with the Gold Rush. He returned to Michigan and in 1859 the Green family made the overland trek to California in a covered wagon. Settling in San Francisco, Eva and her sister Hattie grew up and attended public school there. Her father had become a successful financier and provided well for his family. Early in life Eva showed a marked talent for art and in 1872 she and Hattie went to Europe for art studies in Florence, Munich, and Paris. While in Paris Eva was a pupil of Danet who was greatly enamored with his young student and proposed marriage. After her mother opposed the marriage, she returned to Californi
