Landscape painter Evelyn Corthell Hill was born on May 4, 1886, in Laramie, Wyoming, dying there eighty-eight years later on October 1, 1974. she was known primarily for scenes of Wyoming, although she also painted in Colorado.
Hill was one of those people seeking a continual education in art. She began with study under Monona Van Cise in her early teens, later attending, in 1900-1905, the University of Wyoming, Laramie. In 1908, she earned a B. A. degree at Wellesley College, Massachusetts.
While raising five children, she also studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois, 1918; summer school of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Chester Springs, 1924; the Arts Students League, New York City, 1928,
