Florence Bugbee was born in Stockton, California in 1857. Florence was in England in the 1880s when she married minister Henry Ernest Banham. Upon returning to California, she was a resident of Cloverdale in 1900, Eureka in 1910, Ferndale in 1920, and Pacific Grove at the time of her demise on December 19, 1934. She was the sister of artist Clara Bugbee.
