Born on Aug. 21, 1876 in Pleasanthill, LA. Atkins settled in San Francisco in 1911. She studied at the CSFA, with Hans Hofmann in Munich, and the Sophie Newcomb Art School. Her work includes studies of American birds. Atkins never married and worked as a clerk at the Western Union Telegraph Company.
