Biography Florence Mackubin
Born in Florence, Italy to Boston parents Charles Nicholas and Ellen Marietta Mackubin who were spending that year abroad, Florence Mackubin became a painter of portraits including miniatures. She spent most of her career in Baltimore with summers at St. Andrews-on-the-Sea in Canada and frequent visits to New York City. Mackubin was also a writer of historical papers, which she prepared for organizations to which she belonged including the Colonial Dames, The Maryland Historical Society, and Daughters of the Revolution.
After her father's death, she was taken back to Europe by her mother, and she studied drawing in Florence and then entered the Protestant School at Les Ruches at Fontainebleau. In 1889, she began serious study of art
