Biography   Frances Gifford


Frances (Fannie) Eliot Gifford was a painter and magazine illustrator who was noted for her depictions of birds, both in landscape and alone.  Among her painting locations was New Bedford, Massachusetts. She studied at the Cooper Union Institute in New York City with William Rimmer and in Boston with Samuel Gerry and R.Swain Gifford, whom she married in 1873. 

She illustrated Teddy Roosevelt's book, Hunting Trips of a Ranchman, published in 1885.
