Francine Mazen was born near Chauriat, France in 1899. Mazen met artist Ralph Stackpole on one of his trips to France and came to San Francisco with him in 1920 after visiting Mexico where they were married. The Stackpoles lived on Telegraph Hill and across the bay in Fairfax. In 1949 she returned to Chauriat and died there in 1978. Her rare works include still lifes.
