Frank A. Goodnow was born in Evanston, Illinois. He served with the
U.S. Army during WWII. He attended Northwestern University and
graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago with a bachelor's degree in
fine arts in 1948.
Goodnow was awarded a fellowship to study abroad in France where he
turned his attention to abstract painting in Ecole des Beaux - Arts in
Paris. He came to Syracuse University in 1950 to teach painting,
drawing, watercolor, and the study of color. He also instructed several
summer semesters for SU in London and Florence. Goodnow's painting have
appeared in galleries throughout the nation including: The Zenith
