Frank Scott Clark

Noted portrait photographer and artist in Detroit, 1892-1937. 

Born in Peru, Indiana, September 17, 1865, the son of Joseph Caledon and Charlotte Ann (Ward) Clark. Educated in the public schools of Kingston, Ontario. Started his working career as a shoemaker, boat builder, sign and coach painter, and scenic artist. 

Went to New York to learn photography at the Mora Studios, then moved to Detroit, where he operated a photograph gallery for many years. 

Later studied art at the Cooper Union, New York.

Spent the latter part of his life painting wild flowers and wild life, exhibiting frequently at the DIA and the Scarab Club.  One of the chief organizers of the Scarab   ...  Displaying 750 of 1106 characters.
