Franklin Jones of Southbury, Connecticut, and Stockbridge, Massachusetts, was born on May 18, 1921 in Needham, Massachusetts. He became a noted painter of rural New England landscapes and of figural works. His preferred mediums are acrylic and watercolor. He is also a teacher and author and has received the American Watercolor Society's highest award, the Gold Medal of Honor, and membership in the Dolphin Fellowship.
Jones's interest in art began at an early age. On graduation from high school, he was hired as editorial artist for the local newspaper. During World War II, he served as a public relations artist with the U.S. Marines. After the war, he wo
