Biography Fred Rypsam
Born March 2nd, 1881, Detroit, son of a pattern maker. His entire life has been art. At an early age he started studying under accomplished instructors Joseph Geis, Paul Honore. and Peter Paulus.
After his school days he apprenticed at the Peninsula Engraving Company. At age 21 he was art head at Woodward and Tierman's in St. Louis. Eight years later he moved to Denver as art head at the Williamson and Heffner Engraving Co. He returned to Detroit in 1913, and was associated with the Packard Motor Company.
In 1915, he opened his own studio in the Sherer Building, where he remained for 26 years. He was associated then until retirement with the Ross Roy Company.
