Born in Onarga, Illinois in 1876, Frederic Burt was graduated from the University of Nebraska. His obituary observed that by the turn of the century (age 24) he "was already embarked upon a distinguished career in the theater, his versatility and talent bringing him outstanding roles both as a leading man and character actor." As a leading man, he played opposite stars of his time, including Helen Ware, who became his wife.
