Biography Friedrich Kallmorgen
Friedrich Kallmorgen was born in Altona 1856. He received his first drawing lessons by his uncle Theodor Küchel. In 1875 he visited the preparatory class at the Düsseldorf Academy of Arts under Andreas Müller and Ernst Deger. Subsequently he moved to the academy of Art in Karlsruhe, where he studied under the landscape painter Hans Fredrik Gude and stylistically followed the Barbizon school, in combination with Dutch influences.
Kallmorgen made many extended national and international journeys. In 1902 he finally received a professorship in the landscape class at the Berlin Academy of Fine Arts which he pursued with passion until its end. (fea)
