Biography   Gordon Macmillan Hughes

Lord Gordon MacMillan-Hughes (Irish/American, d. 2001) was an artist who studied in England and Mexico where he received a masters degree from the University of Guanajuato. In addition to being a respected artist, he worked as the headmaster for the Hughes Elementary School on Eleuthera.

Known for being an eccentric, long-haired Irishman with a bushy white beard, an Oxford-English accent and his fine whistle, he often called himself, “Lord of the Scales Demesne Artist Extraordinaire."

He maintained residences in Stratford-upon-Avon in England and in Tarpum Bay on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas. His Eleuthera house/studio, once featured by Fodors Travel Guide, was self-built and is known today by locals as being Castle   ...  Displaying 750 of 1370 characters.
