A painter of realist landscapes, still lives, portraits and figures, she was born in 1958 in the former Soviet Republic. Galina Perova showed artistic promise early on in her life. She attended an art school for gifted students in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. Upon graduation she moved to St. Petersburg, where she started working with the internationally recognized artist and educator E.E. Moiseinko and with his encouragement, she applied to the prestigious Repin Academy of Art in St. Petersburg competing with over a thousand other students for a few open positions. She was accepted, and received her Master of Fine Arts degree in 1985 and her doctorate in 1989, graduating at the top of her class. Her work was praised
