During World War II, George Yphantis worked as a draftsman for Kaiser
Shipyards in Richmond, California. He was one of the artists who
exhibited three pieces in a show called "Men and Ships" held near the
Shipyards in December, 1943 and then at the De Young Museum in January,
Also working at the shipyards with George was Alexander Napote.
After the war Alexander Napote became Dean of the Faculty at the
California College of Arts and Crafts and was a key factor in George
Yphantis becoming a professor there.
