Born in San Francisco, CA on April 22, 1859, George Gihon was the son of Lydia and Thomas Gihon. The younger Gihon was raised in an artistic milieu and involved in the family business at an early age.
Upon the death of his father in the 1890s, he worked for 35 years as an engraver at UC Co-Op until his retirement in 1927.
Gihon died in Berkeley on Jan. 15, 1930.
