George Miyasaki, 78, professor emeritus University of California, Berkeley passed away October 21, 2013. He was born in 1935 in Kalopa, Hawaii. He first came to the Bay Area in 1953 to attend the California College of Arts and Crafts (now California College of Art) to study commercial art. He soon shifted his aspirations towards the fine arts inspired by the Expressionist artists of the Bay Area figurative movement, including his teachers Richard Diebenkorn and Nathan Oliviera.
