Born in Acadia Parish, LA on April 26, 1903. Stanley grew up and attended high school in Watsonville, CA. During 1923-26 he studied at the Otis Art Institute (he taught there during 1926-42) in Los Angeles where he was awarded a scholarship to study bronze casting at the School of Arts in Santa Barbara (he taught there during 1927-28). His career was spent in Los Angeles where he fulfilled many important municipal commissions, the most famous being the movie industry's Oscar award (designed by Cedric Gibbons). Stanley worked on the Federal Art Project in the 1930s and in 1940 was on the faculty of Chouinard Art School. He died in Los Angeles on May 11, 1970.
