Biography   George Wunderlich


A painter known for a work shown in the mid 1850s in Philadelphia at the Assembly Building, George Wunderlich titled it Gigantic Illustrations of American History.  It was a 'moving picture' of 28,000 square feet, a 'mechanical illusion depicting the major early events of the country's history from Columbus to the American Revolution.  The piece was operated by the brother of the artist who used a steam engine.  Viewers paid 25 cents.
