Pecheux's pupil at the Turin Academy, he completed his training in Rome attending the workshop of Domenico Corvi, but also the environment of the Academy of France, where he met and was able to study the works of J. L. David.

After several years of activity in 1808 he obtained the chair of history painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, which marked his full adherence to the neo-classical culture initiated by J. B. Wicar.

For the Murattian commission he executed La Giustizia' (Caserta, Palazzo Reale.
