Gilbert Adrian (1903-1959)
Adrian was born Adolph Greenberg. As a teenager he changed his name to Gilbert Adrian in 1922. He was Hollywood's foremost costume designer during the 1930s and 1940s. He was probably responsible for more fashion trends than any other designer in the United States during this time. Famed as dress designer for Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer Studios.
He was married to actress Janet Gaynor. Adrian dressed some of the biggest stars in Hollywood, including Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo, and Katharine Hepburn.
