Gladys Lewis Bush was born in California on Feb. 28, 1889. Gladys graduated
from UC in 1912, married David D. Bush in 1918 and settled in Los Angeles. While an invalid in
the 1920s, she took up sculpture and quickly became successful. Widowed, she studied at the ASL
in NYC and in Paris before returning to Los Angeles. She died there on Oct. 4, 1954. Her work
includes portrait busts of famous people, bronze plaques, fountain and garden sculptures.
