The following biographical information about Gorham Gilbert Carlson has been compiled by his grandson Paul Kindem from conversations with other family members, a volume of Carlson's personal Christmas cards, the catalogue of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts 1916 exhibition and his wartime sketches of the French countryside and people.
"Gorham Gilbert Carlson (1890-1961) was a commercial artist who worked and lived in Minneapolis, MN. He received his professional training at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, where he was taught by artist Robert Koehler, a co-founder of the Minneapolis Institute of Arts.
