Biography Grace A. Morrill
Among the artists who purchased land from Charles Woodbury in the 1880s at Ogunquit, Maine, Grace Morrill was one of the artists who formed the Ogunquit Art Association in 1928, and part of the group that composed a strong artistic community, which lasted into the 1940s.
As a maiden lady because of her friendships at Ogunquit, she was included with what the local people dubbed "The Virginal Wayfarers," because they sported "long skirts, high collared blouses and wide-brimmed straw hats or in later years, print shirt-waist dresses and solid high-top laced up shoes." They often gathered for tea and painted together along an ocean walk called "The Marginal Way."
