One of his cartoons appeared in the Camp Roberts newspaper, 1943, but he may not have been active at Camp Roberts.
“Grover Pigeye Hadley... Every Week He Has Strip Cartoon in Camp Paper. When Sgt. Grover Carlyle (Pigeye) Hadley isn’t busy helping to fight Japs he is doing just what his St. Joseph friends would expect him to do – draw. In fact, drawing is also part of the sergeant’s official duties. He’s a mapmaker. ‘His up-to-date maps are easily the most complete sets to be found in Okinawa,’ the headquarters of the 14th corps reported when the accompanying studies of general officers were sent to The News-Press.
